The importance of hand-written notes + Matrick and Eve

Handwritten letters and cards are the best kind of mail!

We live in a world that is so much about technology.  Everything is handled over the phone, email or texts.  Just ask my 12, almost 13, year old daughter.  None of her friends just talk on the phone, it's all texting and Snapchat.  And for sure, none of them send handwritten letters or notes to each other!!

Remember the days when we were in school, we'd write notes and pass them to each other in the hallway between classes?  Or we'd send a thank you note to Grandma for the gifts she sent us?  Or send a Birthday or Get Well card to a friend to let them know we were thinking of them?  It's becoming a lost art.

Here is why I think it's important that we make sure this old-time, traditional way of communicating continues.
1.  They create lasting memories.
Remember those notes we passed in High School?  Did you keep the ones from your boyfriend/girlfriend?  Did you go back and reread them while you were dating?  I remember keeping them in a box in my room because they had a sentimental value.   You don't need to keep every card ever sent to you, but how cool is it to be able to keep the ones that really have a value to you, to reread anytime?

2.  Sending, and receiving, cards makes you feel good.
This is similar to writing down your thoughts in a journal.  It can really be a mood booster.  You also know that when the other person receives your card, it'll brighten their day!

3.  It requires you to unplug.
Literally, from your devices.  You get the chance to be in the present moment, with just your thoughts and what you are writing.

I love to keep a box full of a variety of cards, especially Thank You cards, so I have them on hand when needed.

How cute are these cards above?  I love all the bright colors and patterns.  Don't they just make you happy?!  Wouldn't you love to send or receive one of these?!  And, remember Mother's Day is coming in just about a month.  Mom would love a gingham printed card!  Here's another perfect one for Mom!  And how cute is this thank you card?  All the cards and notepads above are c/o Matrick and Eve.
