How to look put together

A simple stripe popover dress with sneakers for a pulled together, laid back look.

We've always heard the saying to "look your best" when you leave the house.  This doesn't mean always being dressed to the nines, but at least be pulled together... style your hair,  a little makeup and a cute outfit.  There are plenty of days that I want to throw my hair in a top-knot and wear my comfy old sweatpants, but I save that for the end of the day when I get back home.

I'm a girly girl.  I love makeup, jewelry, clothes and nail polish.  Being put together is something that is important to me and helps me feel good about myself.  If you feel good about yourself, it shows.  For me, I feel more energized, more confident and like I've accomplished something.  It may even help you have a more positive outlook on the day ahead!

Whether I'm going to an early morning soccer game, running to the grocery or headed to work, I always try to look my best.  You never know who you'll meet or run into.  Don't you want to look your best?

Regardless if you're a stay-at-home mom or work full time, there's no reason you can't take a few minutes to freshen your look.

5 Tips to Look Put Together:

1. Put on makeup

Everyday.   This is my favorite way to look pulled together.  It doesn't matter what I'm wearing, a dress or yoga pants, if I have my makeup all done I feel great!  Your face is what everyone looks at, so make sure it represents you.

2.  Fix your hair

There are so many simple ways to style your hair if it's not a shampoo day or you just don't have the time to curl it.  I love top knots, braids and pony tails.  I wash my hair every other day (unless I get sweaty) and usually always curl it because that's what I like best.  But if it's not looking so hot the second day or I slept on it funny, I'll just put it up.  I'm really into the half up top-knot right now.  Cute and fun.  I just make sure it's not sloppy.

3. Have a couple go-to outfits

Know what looks you feel best in.  Do you have a favorite outfit?  Remember it for those days when you're in a hurry or just not in the mood to creatively put an outfit together.  Right now I love skinny jeans and a loose, flowy top.  I can put this combo on and always feel good.
In the Summer, I love sundresses.  They are easy, with no matching involved.  And so many can be dressed up or down depending on the accessories - just like the dress in this post.  I would totally wear it like this with sneakers to a soccer game or running to the grocery.  But it would also be cute with wedges for a dinner look.

4.  Make a routine

I have the same routine every time I shower, do my hair and makeup.  Yes it's boring and well, routine, but it makes it easy and quick to get ready.  Because I curl my hair the same way everyday, I have it down to a science.  I can fly through that task.  Same with my makeup.  I apply my makeup in the same steps everyday.  I'll change up the eyeshadows and lipsticks, but the method is always the same.  These routines make it easy and quick.

5.  Accessories

These make a huge difference in your look.  You can have a simple white tee with jeans, bland by itself, but add some great accessories and you have a stylish outfit.  Things that instantly up your game are hats, long necklaces, a bright bag and fun sunglasses.
