Seven on Saturday-Tips to create a cheese tray

A cheese tray is a crowd-pleasing appetizer to add to your party menu.

We are now in the full swing of holiday entertaining.   And with that comes appetizers and party food!  A cheese tray has a little something for everyone.
What's not to love about a spread of cheese, meats, bread and fruit?!  So yummy together.  And you can customize it to what you like.
For this weeks Seven on Saturday series, we're giving you 7 tips to creating the perfect party cheese tray.

Tips to create a cheese tray

1. You really only need 4 different types of cheese for a party, 5 if its a large crowd.

2.  Go for a variety of texture with the cheeses.  A soft, semi-hard, hard, etc.  I chose Brie, Manchego, Sharp Cheddar and Parmesan in the above pictures.  Some other options are blue cheese, gouda and gruyere.

3.  Let the cheese come to room temperature before the guests arrive. That way the cheese will come to its full flavor.

4.  Add a base for the cheese and toppings to sit on, like a sliced baguette or flat crackers.

5.  Add fruits, both dried and sweet to the board.  Some examples are dried apricots, apple slices and grapes.  Cheese and fruits are like a match made in heaven, so yummy together!

6.  Add sliced meats too.  Like summer sausage, salami, capicola or prosciutto.

7.  Extras that can also be added are nuts, sweet jam, spicy jelly, olives.  Really anything you can think of.  Have fun with it :)
