Your Guide to winter Coats

Sweater: J. Crew Factory // Jeans: Paige // Tote: Barrington // Heels: Nine West

Winter coats can be such statement makers!  When you're all bundled up, it's all you see.  With the cold weather approaching, actually some of you are already getting cold weather and snow, there are many coat options for you.  Here is a breakdown of the most popular coat types and a roundup of some of our favorites:

Pea Coat -  This coat is a classic!  It can come in many colors and lengths.  This longer length that I'm wearing is perfect for a dressier look or a shorter coat is perfect for day-to-day.

Down Coat -  AKA a puffer coat.  Over the years the puffer coat has slimmed down a bit but still adds plenty of warmth.  Whenever I think of a puffer coat, it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George has on a very puffy coat.  Jerry and Elaine start teasing him and poking him asking if he could feel it.  So funny!  Do you remember that episode?

Parka - This type of coat does double-duty.  It keeps you warm and dry.  There are 3 things to look for in a parka: Does it have a hood?  Is it removable? Is the coat water-proof?  One aspect I love about the parka is that they tend to have beautiful fur detail on the hood!  I'm a sucker for the added fur details.

Wrap Coats - This style of coat has really taken off this year.  I have seen them everywhere!  They are a very chic and stylish coat.  I love the soft feminine look to them.  Many of these would be perfect for a dressy occasion.

Cape - This coat is perfect for the fashionista at heart!  It's absolutely gorgeous!  The black cape below needs to be in my closet!  I love it.  Worn dressed-up or day-to-day, it provides a very chic look!
