The Must-Have summer top and wide leg pants

A Summer must-have is a tank top.  The grown up version of the tank top is the cami.  It's sleek, classic, and the silky flowing material is extremely flattering.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day is just about 1 week away.  Do you have a special gift for mom yet?

Being a mom now, I certainly understand the hard work she had raising twins!  Motherhood is an exhausting 24/7 job that often goes unappreciated.  However, I wouldn't trade any of it for the world.  Spending my days getting up early to make breakfasts and pack lunches, then running errands and working, carpool, making dinner, helping with homework, sports and activities, laundry and really doesn't leave too much free time to myself.  Maybe a few moments here and there.  Most moms have days like this, so let's make sure we make them feel extra special on Mother's Day and let them know we applaud their hard work!

Here are some gift ideas for your mom!  You can click on the pictures to shop the items.

Monogrammed Gifts

No mom can resist a personalized gift!!  They are made just for her!

Does your mom have a signature scent?  Our mom wore 'Red Door' by Elizabeth Arden for years.  Now she wears Tresor by Lancome.  A new perfume is a lovely gift.  How cute are these face mask packs!?

Fun, unique gifts that fit your mom's personality!  Now that our mom is retired from teaching and doesn't have to wear heels anymore, she's all about comfortable shoes.  A gorgeous new classic flat would be a hit.

Our mom has the biggest jewelry collection we've ever seen, and it's still growing!  We can remember raiding her stash often :)  We know she would love one of these simple pieces.

Help mom freshen up her look for Summer.  Our mom doesn't always wear a lot of makeup but a new fresh blush palette would be a big hit.

For the Gardener

Our mom loves to add flowers to her yard every Spring and she always plants a garden in the back yard.  We know she would love all of these!

For the Home

Our mom is a huge tea drinker, so a cute mug would be perfect for her!  She also loves unique serving platters, like the blue one below.  And blue is one of her favorite colors!

Gourmet Gifts

A sweet little gift for your mother with a sweet tooth!

Lounge Gifts

Moms work super hard, all day!  What better gift than cozy, soft pjs and a robe?!  Our mom loves to read and can easily polish off a book in a day.  Lounging in comfy pjs and reading is her ideal relaxing morning!

Always a beautiful, yet practical gift.

Even if you don't get your mother a gift, make sure you tell her how much you love and appreciate her.  All mothers need to hear this!

Trending: Flatforms + Link Up

Can you believe a month ago I was laying by the pool in Florida?!  Where did my tan go!!!?  I've decided I'm in desperate need of the tanning lotion Betsy has been using!  She discussed it last week in this Sunless Tanning Post.

Anyway, back to today's post.

One of my favorite shoe trends for Summer is the flatform!  I love all my wedges and the easy extra height they give.  The flatform is a fun new take on the platform shoe.  There are so many fun varieties from basic ankle straps like I'm wearing to lace up varieties to a variety of colors.

These pretty little shoes are new and I'm absolutely loving them.  (My husband bought them for me as a little surprise.)  I wore them over the weekend out shopping with the family and not one blister or sore feet!  And an added bonus is the extra couple inches it gave me!  (5'4" so I'll take all the help I can.)

I'm not one for wearing orange shades very often.  But when I came across this ruffled blouse, I decided to go on a limb and try this color.  #yolo.  It's also available in 3 other colors.

Sunless Tanning + 5 Tips

Get ready for those summer shorts and dresses!  A sunless tanner is an easy and healthy way to get that sun-kissed glow.

Back in this past post I talked about why I decided to start using a sunless tanner.  Basically when it's time to start wearing dresses and tanks, I notice how pale my legs and arms are.  There is nothing wrong with that, but I just love the look of a summer glow!!  But unfortunately with sitting in the sun outside comes sun spots, wrinkles and heaven forbid, skin cancer later in life.  So this year I made a decision to really try and stay out of the sun when possible.  To get the look of a tan, I decided to try a sunless tanning.  I found Loving Tan and love it.

Their products really do give a natural looking tan that gives you immediate color but develops into a deeper tan the few hours after application.  I started out using the Dark shade then switched to the Ultra Dark shade.  I actually like the Ultra Dark shade better.  I have been getting questions just about everyday asking about my tan!  They are all surprised to find out that it's a fake tan!!  Of course there is the option of going for a spray tan at the salon, but I love the convenience of doing it myself at home.

Here are some tips I've learned with applying the tanner.

1.  Exfoliate - It's a must.  You really need to get rid of the dry skin and make it smoother for the mousse to soak into.  I use this glove to scrub my skin and remove any past tan that is left.

2.  Use a mirror - The mousse provides immediate color to help you make sure the product is evenly spread.  Check under arms and the back of your legs in the mirror to make sure you don't miss any spots.

3.  Blend - I use this mit (use code TWOPEASINABLOG for a free mit) to apply the mousse. The key is to keep blending it in.  Look for streaks as you go.  I use about 3 pumps per arm/leg.  Start with the main part of your arm/leg then slowly blend out to wrists, elbows, knees and ankles with what is left on the mit.  Those areas really absorb the lotion, so don't overdo it!  For my face, I mix a small amount of my face lotion with 1 pump of the mousse and rub it onto my face.  The lotion dilutes the mousse a little so my face isn't too dark.

4.  Dry - Allow the lotion to dry completely before getting dressed.  It doesn't take long, about 5 min. Then dress in loose clothing.

5.  Don't rinse off - Keep the lotion on for about 8 hours before rinsing off.  This helps the color turn into a deeper tan.  I apply the mousse at night, then sleep all night with it on.  Then in the morning I just rinse it off in the shower.  When you dry off, pat gently with your towel so the lotion isn't scrubbed off.  I find that my color lasts about 1 week.

Hope these tips help you get the perfect sun kissed look!

Double Peplum Top + Link Up

A silky, double layer peplum tank for Summer!

Sorry (not-sorry) if it's been over-kill on the peplum tops lately!  I just can't seem to get enough of them.  I'm drawn to their girly vibe, their playfulness and just because they are so stinkin' cute!!  I think anyone can wear a peplum top.  This top is super fun because of it's floral print and it's double peplum!!!

So this past Saturday night we went to a close friend's surprise 40th birthday party!  So much fun!!  I'd never been to a surprise party before.  It was just like you'd imagine...lights dimmed, everyone quiet, our hearts racing with anticipation, then we yelled SURPRISE when he walked in!!  Loved it.

The party was in the wine cellar of an Italin restaurant in downtown Raleigh, the perfect setting for a private party.  Although I felt a little claustrophobic with no windows :)  Once we closed the restaurant down, we all decided to keep the party going at the dance club across the street!  It's been years since I've been to a dance club, I forgot how much fun it is!  Until the next morning when we couldn't sleep in and parent life had to keep going.  We are still trying to catch up on our sleep.

Have you ever been to a surprise party?
