Weekend Getaway at the Omni Homestead

Way back in the early Fall, we decided we needed to plan a weekend getaway.  With husbands, kids, jobs, life…finding a free weekend is really hard. We decided to make it a priority, and yes, missed a couple of the kids events, but sister time in the VA mountains was worth it.

We knew we needed a “meet-in-the-middle” location, seeing as how Katey is in Ohio and I’m in North Carolina.  Virginia was the spot.  But not just any place would do.  We wanted a beautiful location full of Christmas charm.  The Omni Homestead had all we were looking for!!!
History, beauty, holiday fun!!!
THE RESORT:
The resort is over 250 years old and maintains so much of the history and charm of it’s past.
Local legends say that Native Americans traveling through this area discovered the crystal springs and used the water to rejuvenate themselves.  These waters have a high mineral content making them crystal clear.  They remain at a natural body temp all year and are unaffected by the changing seasons.  So cool!!  You can soak in the natural hot springs in the Spa.
This grand entry way greets you as you walk into the resort!  There are sofas, chairs, fireplaces, a grand piano and a lobby bar…all which keep this place bustling!
We couldn’t get over how beautiful, and big, this live Christmas tree was!

WHAT TO DO:
Depending on the season, there is a long list of resort activities.
*Golf
*Indoor pool
*Outdoor pool (heated in the cold months) has a lazy river and water slides
*Spa and Spa pool
*Outdoor activities include horseback riding, archery, gun range, zip line, hiking
*Skiing, snow tubing and ice skating during the Winter months
*Game room
*Theater
*Shopping

The resort has an entire hallway filled with boutiques, home decor, sweets, and a children’s shop.

One of the bars.
This one has large screen tv’s perfect for watching sports.  We actually ate dinner here both nights and loved it!  Filled with people and activities, this was the spot to be.  And they have amazing chicken tenders!!!!
Overall, even though we had terrible luck with the weather on Saturday, we had a wonderful weekend away!!  I’ve already told my husband I want to take another trip to the Omni Homestead, maybe over the Summer.  Then he can golf and the kids can enjoy the outdoor pool zone.
Happy travels!!

Thanks to the Omni Homestead for a wonderful and relaxing weekend stay.

I looks like you've had a really great time. The resort looks amazing, perfect for spending some quality sister's time. Choosing the right accommodation might seem difficult, but given the latest troncones hotels offers, the search can become a lot easier. We all know that high quality services are hard to pass!
