How to get the perfect manicure for National Nail Polish Day with Essie

Did you know that today is National nail polish day!?
Yes!
There is a special day for everything and this one promotes the easiest way to play up your beauty look.
What’s your typical nail polish style? I’m pretty basic.  My absolute favorite color is white.  I wear it year-round.  I love how fresh and clean it is.  Today I’m excited to share my all-time favorite Essie nail polish color with you, tips on how to get the perfect at-home manicure, and the top Summer nail trends.

In honor of #NationalNailPolishDay, you can get $2 off any Essie nail polish or nail care item in store at Walgreens.

My absolute favorite Essie color is “tuck it in my tux”.  It’s a lighter white which I have found stays on longer than typical bright white.  Below I’m sharing my tips and step-by-step to how I do my own manicures at home.

At home manicure tips:
1 – Clean nails with nail polish remover.
2 – If needed, cut your nails with a nail clipper or file to get the desired length and shape.
3 – Use a cuticle stick to gently push back your cuticles.  Then trim with a cuticle nipper.
4 – Apply a base coat.  This will help your nail polish stick better therefore lasting longer and helps to prevent any stains or damage to your nails.
5 – I typically apply 3 coats of nail polish.  I would say at least do 2 coats to create a smooth, even finish.
6 – Let it dry completely, then add your top coat to help your polish last longer.
7 – The final step is to add a little cuticle oil around your nails to keep your cuticles hydrated and looking good.

What is your favorite go-to color to wear for Summer?

Summer nail trends:
You know my personal favorite neutral nail color is white.  However, another new and updated neutral to try this Summer is light pink, blue, or lavender.  These are classic, light, and pair well with all your Summer styles.
Another super popular trend is nail art!  Use multiple shades (1 on each finger) to create a “rainbow” look or add in fun geometric shapes and themes with nail stickers.
The most popular shape for Summer is an almond shape.  I typically like my nails short though.  If you are like me, try a ‘squoval’ shape.  Short but with soft edges.
